Abdominal Aortic Junctional Tourniquet – Stabilised (AAJT-S)

The AAJT-S (Abdominal and Aortic Junctional Tourniquet–Stabilized) is a unique, multi-functional tourniquet designed for controlling bleeding in areas difficult to manage with traditional tourniquets, such as the axilla, abdomen, inguinal region, and for pelvic fracture stabilization and Zone 3 REBOA. It effectively compresses the aorta to control hemorrhage, proven safe for up to 60 minutes in animal studies and effective in humans at stopping femoral artery blood flow at 300mm Hg inflation pressures. Additionally, it’s used during cardiac resuscitation to maintain blood pressure when moving patients. The AAJT-S stands out for its low training requirement and lack of skills fade, making it a critical tool for managing complex trauma bleeding and the only device besides REBOA capable of stopping blood flow into the pelvis.
